Asked by someone from Port Huron, MI on 11/14/2016

If I want to retire at 66 and am turning 65 in January do I need to do anything with Social security, I heard they have a penalty if I sign up late for Medicare?

  • Yes, sign up before 65. Talk to SSA rep if you have insurance that covers you from work until you retire. Some work policies require that you take Medicare at 65.
