• Question
  • IS MEDICARE FORCED ON EVERYONE OVER 65 That is ON SOCIAL SECURITY

Asked by someone from Harvest, AL on 10/26/2015

I AM DRAWING Social Security But I drive a school bus and have good health insurance threw the school system for 15.00 a month . I have been told by other drivers that when I turn 65 that I will automatically go onto Medicare and they will take it out of my social security check. It cost 104.00 a month now and is suppose to go up to over 150 is there any way I can just keep my own insurance threw the school as long as I am working?

  • Everyone who reaches 65 has to enroll in Medicare Part A which is free. Part B covers doctor most of doctor bills is you get it and Part D covers most of drug bills. You should contact your insurance company with this question, but I'd be surprised if they don't say you have to at least sign up for Part B.
